Addison is an incorporated town in Dallas County. Today, Addison is the result of explosive growth of business since the 1980s. Though Addison has only slightly over 13,000 residents, daytime population is estimated at over 100,000.

Addison is a popular location for many Dallas-area restaurants because Addison allows restaurants to serve alcoholic beverages by the drink, while many nearby municipalities do not. Addison has 22 hotels, featuring a total of at least 4,000 hotel rooms and meeting facilities.

Addison Airport consumes roughly half of the town’s 11.5 square kilometers (4.4 sq mi) and is the third-largest general aviation airport in the nation. Major corporate headquarters in Addison include Dresser and Mary Kay Cosmetics. Other major employers in Addison include Bank of America and Regus. Other companies based in Addison include Jani-King and Palm Harbor Homes.

Addison is located in close proximity to the headquarters of HP Enterprise Services (formerly EDS – Electronic Data Systems), JC Penney, and Frito Lay in Plano.

Addison has 118 acres (48 ha) of parkland. Addison’s first town park opened in 1978.[27] The Dallas Independent School District operates the Alfred J. Loos Athletic Complex in Addison, and The Addison Athletic Club is a 52,000 sq. ft. residents-only facility that features indoor and outdoor swimming pools, a gymnasium, fitness equipment, and racquetball courts.

Prestonwood is a noteworthy neighborhood voted number the #1 neighborhood in the City of Dallas in 2013. Prestonwood continues to provide its residents with excellent public school options, many within walking distance, along with beautiful homes with easy access to some of North Dallas’ best amenities.
